Why sea salt deserves a spot in your kitchen...
Small pinch, big benefits
There are certain ingredients I consider absolute staples in my kitchen—and the first one I want to highlight is sea salt.
Sure, there’s table salt and kosher salt, but I always reach for sea salt. You may already be a sea salt believer, but if not, here’s why I’m a fan of it:
Sea salt is rich in trace minerals that our bodies need to thrive. Over the years, our soil has become depleted of many of these nutrients, so incorporating sea salt into your diet is one simple way to help replenish them. It also acts as a natural electrolyte, containing sodium, magnesium, calcium, and potassium—all of which support hydration by helping your body absorb water more effectively.
Personally, I often add a small pinch of sea salt to my water for an extra hydration boost. On top of that, sea salt supports digestion and can contribute to better gut health.
Now, why don’t I cook with table or kosher salt? These types of salt are typically highly processed and stripped of their natural minerals, leaving little to no nutritional value. And in my opinion—if an ingredient doesn’t support the natural functions of the body, why use it?
So that’s why sea salt is a non-negotiable in my kitchen. From flavor to function, it just makes sense.
Give sea salt (and its many beautiful varieties) a try—you might notice the difference in more ways than one.
